Michigan vs. Wisconsin prediction and picks for 8 more major men’s college basketball games

Basketball(NBA, College ,High School)

Andy Katz and Chad “March Chadness” Aycock break down some of the best games and Katz offers up his predictions for some top-level matchups on this week’s episode of March Madness 365. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Kentucky’s Keion Brooks Jr. and Xavier’s Colby Jones also joined Katz this week.

Katz was 8-1 with his predictions last week. His overall record is now 33-16. So, let’s get to it.

No. 9 Wisconsin at No. 7 Michigan | 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 12 | TV: ESPN

Michigan is 10-0 and one of the last undefeated teams left in the country. Yet, despite being the higher-ranked team and being the home team in this matchup, Katz likes the Badgers to give the Wolverines their first loss of the season. Katz cites Wisconsin’s experience, depth and perimeter offense as their path to victory.

Oakland basketball learns the big challenges and small victories of playing in a pandemic

Basketball(NBA, College ,High School)

Everyone has to keep grinding in a season, where nothing is certain, or easy. Kampe has experienced a lot in 37 years, but never anything like this.

The nominations are now closed for the happiest 2-9 college basketball team in America.

Looks like it might be the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, by a landslide. Why? Consider their journey so far, which could make them a poster team for the different and difficult and demanding times of 2020:

Shut down by COVID most of November, until three days before the season opener at Xavier. And then…

Nine consecutive road games — all defeats — including a Power-5 four-step through Michigan, Purdue, Oklahoma State and Michigan State; a slog designed partly to make sure they reach this season’s NCAA-mandated minimum game limit, pa...

USA vs. Czech Republic live score, updates, highlights from 2021 World Juniors

The United States has played two games thus far at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. They have been two games on opposite ends of the spectrum. Game 1 showcased a team struggling to play a full 60 in a 5-3 loss to Russia. Game 2 was a dominating 73-shot, 11-goal shutout of Austria less than 24 hours later.

On Tuesday the Americans will face a foe that should give them a lot to handle while they aim for a complete 60-minute effort. The Czech Republic is coming off a shocking 2-0 win over Russia backstopped with a 30-save performance by 2019 Kings draft pick Lukas Parik. It was an impressive showing by the Czechs, who blocked more than 20 shots and used a smart, smothering defense to stop Russia’s high-powered offense. In a last-minute change, Parik will get the start...

Fighting in the Age of Loneliness, supercut edition: A conversation with Felix and Jon

Boxing( Ufc ,Kick Boxing ,Cage Fighting of any Kind ,wrestling )

Secret Base now has one million subscribers on YouTube. It’s a big moment for us, and it’s a testament to all the ambition, creativity and years of hard work put in by our team: Alex Rubenstein, Clara Morris, Graham MacAree, Jiazhen Zhang, Joe Ali, Jon Bois, Kofie Yeboah, Mike Das, Phil Pasternak, Ryan Simmons, Seth Rosenthal, and Will Buikema.

Out of appreciation for our viewers, we’ve decided to re-release our 2018 documentary series, Fighting in the Age of Loneliness, as a single two-hour video. Jon spent years working with Felix Biederman of Chapo Trap House fame to tell a story of mixed martial arts, sketchy business dealings, power-hungry families, the fading of American empire, and the refuge offered to us by our weird, stupid, beloved bloodsport.

Jon and Felix also took the o...

What channel is Warriors vs. Nets on tonight? Time, TV schedule for NBA Opening Night game

Basketball(NBA, College ,High School)

What better way to start a new NBA season than with a contest featuring one of the league’s greatest players facing his former team?

Kevin Durant will see a few familiar faces on Opening Night as his Nets meet the Warriors to tip off the 2020-21 season. The 32-year-old forward’s last appearance in a game that mattered came on June 10, 2019, when Durant, then a member of the Warriors, logged 12 minutes in Game 5 of the NBA Finals before falling to the floor with a torn Achilles. After leaving Golden State for Brooklyn in free agency last year, Durant missed the entire 2019-20 season and prepared for his comeback tour. Now the Nets are hoping a healthy Durant and Kyrie Irving can lead them to championship glory.

As for Durant’s old franchise, the Warriors will rely on two-time NBA MVP S...

It is very hard to travel across a whole country in a straight line

Football (NFL,High School,College )

It is surprisingly difficult to move any real distance in a straight line. The landscape is littered with obstacles both natural and man-made. It turns out that treating rivers, fences, mountains, swamps etc. like they’re not actually there rather than doing the sensible thing and going around them is … challenging.

I bring this up because I recently stumbled across a series of videos by ‘GeoWizard’ Tom Davies, in which he attempts to cross a whole country in a straight line. His most recent attempt is Norway, which makes up for its skinniness by being, well, Norway, Land of Fjords and Big, Craggy Mountains.

This is interesting for a few reasons...
